Guidelines

  • Applicant must meet all qualifications for entry into, and be accepted by, an institution of learning as defined in guideline 2 below.
  • The Educational Grant money must pay for education in a University, College, Junior College, Technical School, Business School or Seminary. The selection of the institution is at the student's choice. The Educational Grant money will be paid to the institution of the student's choice upon written confirmation of the student's acceptance at the institution.
  • The application must be for a Knight of Columbus, wife, son or daughter of a member in good standing in a Council located in Texas. (Dependents of deceased members, who were in good standing, are eligible.)
  • The Texas State Council Aid to Education Committee will select the Educational Grant winners by Diocese and eligibility and will announce the winners at the Annual Texas State Council Knights of Columbus Convention. Educational Grants will be limited to one per Diocese.
  • The late Robert E. Schmidt is honored by having a maximum of two Educational Grants each year made available to the Columbian Squires who are graduating this fraternal year. Selection of the possible Squire winners will be done in the same manner as the general selection of the other application winners.
  • If the Aid to Education Committee determines there are no eligible Columbian Squires applicants or no eligible general applicants can be found in any Diocese, no Educational Grant(s) will be awarded for the Columbian Squires nor the Diocese.
  • The application (also found in the Programs Manual) must be complete, all instructions followed, and postmarked by March 1. It must be received no later than March 15. This date applies to other required materials as school transcripts, etc.
