Pro-Life ACE Wings
The ACE Wings are 2" wide and 5/8" high and are metallic. The "Precious Feet" are the exact
size and shape of an unborn baby's feet at 10 weeks after conception. Wear them with pride.
Requirements for Receiving the Pro-Life ACE Wings Award
A minimum of 5 Public Pro-Life events are required to qualify for the Texas State Council Pro-Life
ACE Wings Award. 4 out of the 5 events must have to do with the unborn, such as:
Pro-Life Masses Pro-Life Sidewalk Counseling
Pro-Life Parades Volunteer Work at Women's Center
Pro-Life Rosary Processions March For Life
Pro-Life Award Dinners Hike For Life
Run For Life Other "qualified"* public events
The 5th item can be either a Pro-Life event as described above, or it can be an item such as:
Volunteering for work at a Special Olympics event
Volunteering for work at a hospice, nursing home, or veterans hospital
Providing entertainment for the residents of a hospice, nursing home, or veterans hospital
Other "qualified"* events ("qualified"* as acceptable in the sole judgment of the State PLC)
Our Holy Father has called us to be Pro-Life, from conception to natural death, therefore we must
include those who are forgotten and left to die. Tragically, since it is legal to kill a baby
in the womb, we must keep this issue in the forefront. This is why in order to obtain the ACE
Wings Award four of the events must deal with our most vulnerable, the unborn. Volunteering
for Special Olympic events is included because many abortions are performed once it is discovered that
the baby might have Down Syndrome, or some other developmental defect. People that work in the
Special Olympics arena must also be commended.
Private Pro-Life events (such as saying the Rosary privately, or offering up a private intention at
Mass) do not count as a "qualified" event.
Forms may be submitted at any time during the Fraternal Year.
The ACE Wings will be presented to the recipient by the District Deputy, Grand Knight or by mail.
A Knight will not have to pay for his original set of ACE Wings. A member may also request a set of
wings for his spouse (if she has earned them), and he will be required to pay $8 (includes shipping).
A Council may present the ACE Wings Award once a year to a non-Knight in their local community
that has demonstrated a very strong Pro-Life stance. The Council will be billed $8 for the wings.
Council will submit ACE Wings Award forms to the Pro-Life Chairman for tracking purposes.
We encourage everyone to continue to support Pro-Life events, however, only one set of ACE
Wings will be awarded to a Brother Knight.
The ACE Wings Award Form is available on the Knights of Columbus web site,
Ace Pro-Life Wings Award. Complete the Form and mail to the State Pro-Life Chairman listed on the Form.
Optional Programs
RUNNING OF THE SILVER ROSE
The "Our Lady of Guadalupe Silver Rose Program" began in 1960 as a project of the Columbian Squires
of North America to honor the Blessed Virgin under her title of "Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the
Americas". The program has continued since then as a project of Squires Circles, Councils and
4th Degree Assemblies. In 2001 Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson expanded the program by
beginning the "Running of the Silver Rose" from the 119th Annual meeting of the Supreme Council in
Ontario, Canada to Monterrey, Mexico through the United States. "The 'Running of the Silver
Rose' is a perfect program for the Knights of Columbus," said Supreme Knight Anderson. "Through it we
honor not only Our Lady of Guadalupe and express the Unity of the Order, but we also reaffirm the Order's
dedication to the sanctity of human life. It is to the Blessed Mother that we turn in prayer
as we work to end the Culture of Death that grips our society. As we think in terms of 'One
Life, One Rose,' it is most appropriate we turn to our Lady of Guadalupe who made known her will through
Juan Diego and the miracle of the roses."
The Silver Rose program features a sculpted silver rose carried by Knights from Canada through the
United States to Mexico, bringing the Culture of Life message on its journey. The silver rose
is received at councils and parishes along its journey and Masses and prayer services are offered.
Special border ceremonies with Fourth Degree honor guards are held when the rose is transferred from one
state to another, and internationally.
