The Columbian Squires is the official Youth Organization of the Knights of Columbus. They
are 'Knights in Training', to learn leadership skills as Catholic young men. Squires Circles
conduct regular meetings and conduct activities for community service, Church, social events, (Sports)
and membership recruiting.
The Knights serve as Counselors to help them develop into mature, responsible Catholic leaders and
when thy reach age 18 to become a Knight of Columbus.
Columbian Squire Circles must be Sponsored by a Knights of Columbus Council or a 4th Degree Assembly.
The basic requirements are one enthusiastic dedicated Chief Counselor (must be a 3rd degree
Knight). You will need at least 10 Catholic young men. The ages for Squires is
presently age 10 to 18 to become a Columbian Squire.
To start a Squires Circle you will need to have your Financial Secretary order Kit # 1 (Notice of Intention
To Start A Squires Circle). Kit #2 will come later with books and supplies.

1. Grand Knights could appoint a committee of Knights to start a Squires Circle and report
progress. Texas has 648 Councils, but only 79 Squires Circles.
2. District Deputies need to contact and encourage Councils to start Squires Circles. The goal
is to have a Squires Circle in every Council and 350 new Squires this year.
3. Diocesan Deputies could hold Diocesan Squire conferences. Appoint a worthy Diocesan
Squires Chairman to help with regular Investitures.
4. Make plans to have pulpit announcements telling the parishioners that the Knights of Columbus
are starting a Columbian Squires Circle. (Describe as an organization for young Catholic
Men age 10 to 18.) Set up display table to signup new Squires.
5. Have Financial Secretary order FREE Squires signup Form 280's, Squire Pins, Books, Squire
badge patches, brochures, posters, and handouts. Look at www.kofc.org **Note: Supreme

6. Make sure your Counselors and Squires attend Texas State Squire Conventions.
