Below is an update on our efforts to assist those suffering from Hurricane Harvey.  Please share this information with the Knights in your Council.
This week was highlighted by a visit from Supreme Knight Carl Anderson, Worthy State Deputy Doug Oldmixon, Supreme Treasurer Ron Schwartz, and Supreme Master Dennis Stoddard to the Houston area.  They visited Knights and widows of Knights adversely affected by Hurricane Harvey and attended mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church under a tent provided and installed by Knights.  The Supreme Knight made several generous donations while in Houston.
In addition, here are some other accomplishments of the Knights:
Charitable Works:

Approximately 48,800 meals have been served to neighbors, first responders, those in shelters, and others seeking assistance.
Supreme and Texas State Charity have provided councils with over $21,000 for purchasing food and cleaning supplies.
Council 8096 held a BBQ dinner fundraiser and raised $2500 for those suffering from the hurricane.
Council 6557 prepared and served 200 meals to neighbors around the council hall that had flooded.
The Points of Distribution operations center in Houston continues to receive and distribute donations of cleaning supplies, water, and food.  This week the Notre Dame School in Dallas provided a trailerload of cleaning supplies, and Knights from Ashland, Kansas delivered a truckload of food and supplies.

Assistance to Brother Knights in Need:
Thanks to donations from across the nation, funds are being provided by Supreme and the Texas State Council Charity Board for Knights needing assistance.

266 of the $100 Gift Cards supplied by Supreme have been distributed to Knights.
276 grant forms have been submitted, and $372,000 has been given to Brother Knights.
Local Councils are continuing to help Knights needing assistance repairing and cleaning out their homes.

Thanks to the hard work of our Brother Knights, Grand Knights, District Deputies, and Diocesan Deputies, life has improved for those suffering from Hurricane Harvey.  The Emergency Response Coordinators have worked long hours to provide the needed resources and coordinate disaster response activities in their areas.  I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the great work done by the following Emergency Response Coordinators:

Mike Buecher – Regional Emergency Response Coordinator for the Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Laredo, and Brownsville Diocese
Bob Sumicek – Regional Emergency Response Coordinator for the Galveston-Houston, Beaumont, Austin, & Victoria Diocese
Edward Cantu - Emergency Response Coordinator for the Corpus Christi Diocese
Phil Chauvin – Emergency Response Coordinator for the Beaumont Diocese
Larry Pellerito - Emergency Response Coordinator for the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese

Please keep our Brother Knights and those suffering from recent disasters in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and Mexico in your prayers.
Vivat Jesus! Viva Cristo Rey!
