How time flies! Here we are with only four months to go in the fraternal year. It’s already time to prepare for the State Convention. During the last convention, I announced the slogan “the Passion to Serve”.
To borrow a cliché from basketball, it is now March Madness and we have begun our full court press in Membership Recruitment.
Ceremonials are vital when it comes to making council quotas and goals. Setting regular dates for the exemplification of the degree and for team practice is important for the best presentation.
A little over three months left, that is what we have left in this fraternal year. Hopefully, you all are on your way to meeting your goals.
Are you a better Catholic because you became a Knight? Are you a better husband because you became a Knight? Are you a better Dad because you became a Knight?
Six months have passed since the beginning of the fraternal year and Texas Knights already have much to celebrate. You have lead by example in membership, in charities, and in your programs.
History has shown that when councils actively conduct a comprehensive activity program for their members, the result is often membership growth. The time is fast approaching when councils will be at that vital reporting point where their activities will need to be recognized and council successes be noted.
With Christmas just behind us, and with the spirit of gift giving still fresh in our hearts, maybe we should reflect on the real gift of Christmas…….. That God gave us his Own Son!!!!!!! Yes, He gave to the world and for all generations to come, a gift so precious and so wonderful. But this gift started out as just a tiny infant and then grew. Most meaningful gifts start out as a tiny speck, an idea or an inspiration.

In the December 2010 issue of the distinguished publication known as the Texas Monthly there is an obscure little column written by Oscar Casares. It is entitled “Imaginary Friends” and it begins on page 72 with a photo of the “Judge” standing in the Oval Office next to Vice President L.B. Johnson and President Jack Kennedy. Oscar tells about an experience he had as a child at the age of eight.
