ARE WE JUST WEARING THE BADGE ???

Bobb Mahrer, Membership Director

To borrow a cliché from basketball, it is now March Madness and we have begun our full court press in Membership Recruitment.

As of this writing, we have less than four months to reach our membership goal and we are asking every District Deputy and every Council Grand Knight to be recruitment active through June 30th. Because we fell short of our recruitment goals in December and January, it has placed the importance on achieving or exceeding our monthly goals during March, April, May, and June. This final question goes to each of us. Are we going to make sure that Texas goes to the Circle of Honor or “are we just wearing the badge ???”

SPRING BLITZ. Twice per year, each jurisdiction in the Order, including Texas, is required to provide a report to the Supreme Knight that includes information regarding recruitment and First Degree efforts during October and again in March. Please be responsive to BLITZ Chairman Rich Moken when he contacts you (Diocesan Deputy and District Deputy) for the data in your respective district and diocese for the Spring BLITZ.
STATE COUNCIL THIRD QUARTER INCENTIVE. This is a reminder that any active council of record (as of July 1, 2010) in Texas who recruits new members equal to or greater than their council’s Supreme Recruitment Goal between January 1, 2011 and March 31, 2011 will earn one paid night (hotel room charge) for their first council delegate to the state convention. A council who recruits equal to or greater than double their council’s goal during the same time period will earn a paid night (hotel room charge) for their second council delegate.

For example, a council who has a Supreme Recruitment Goal of 3 new members for the year must recruit 3 or more new members during the months of January, February, and March and must show a net gain of 3 or more members at the end of March. A council who has a goal of 5 new members for the year must recruit 5 or more new members and must show a net gain of 5 or more new members at the end of March. A council who has a goal of 15 new members for the year must recruit 15 or more new members and must show a net gain of 15 or more new members at the end of March. We had 38 councils who were able to achieve this last year.

Additionally, any district deputy who achieves his district goal during the months of March and April will automatically have his room upgraded to a suite.

Final determinations will be based on the Supreme Council Membership Report dated 04/01/2011.

LET’S GO FOR THE 95,000th MEMBER!!!  Who will be our 95,000th member in Texas? Whoever he is, he will be recognized at the State Convention as well as the Diocesan Deputy, the District Deputy, and the Council Grand Knight. The honoree will receive a special state shirt recognizing him as the 95,000th member to the jurisdiction of Texas. The determination of the 95,000 member in Texas will be made from those Form 100’s that were submitted during the incentive period and will be made by the Supreme Council.

MEMBERSHIP RACING SERIES. Beginning February 1, 2011 the Supreme Council began the Membership Racing Series. Somewhat like the Membership World Series in the Fall, the series is based on recruitment contests among the jurisdictions and is broken down into monthly contests. For February, Texas did not finish first in the “Charity 200”. However, with all councils and districts being recruitment active in March, Texas can win the “Unity 300” and the “Fraternity 400” in April. Let’s SPRING INTO ACTION !!! Progress in the contests in each of the divisions my be viewed on the Supreme website at http://www.kofc.org/un/en/officers/index.html
And let’s not forget, if we’re not leading and actively engaged with our councils, “we’re just wearing the badge.”
