“Boys, they’re coming at us with all they got. Let’s show ‘em what we Texans are made of.”

MEMBERSHIP WORLD SERIES - FIRST ROUND
The good news at the end of the first round (end of July) of the Supreme Council Membership World Series is that the Texas recruitment numbers were better than California (285) and New York (165). However, since the standings are ranked on a percentage, California remained #1 at 6.552% and Texas was #2 at 5.898% with New York coming in at #9 with 3.131%. (Refer to attached file for details).
For those of us in Texas who are very competitive, it doesn’t seen fair that California could come out on top as #1 when we actually recruited more new members that they did. But, as many of you have often heard me say, “He who owns the game board gets to make the rules.” So, that means we need to work just a little bit harder to stay ahead of California. As Jim Bowie once said at the Alamo, “Boys, they’re coming at us with all they got. Let’s show ‘em what we Texicans [Texans] are made of.”
MEMBERSHIP WORLD SERIES - SECOND ROUND - Double Elimination Brackets
In the attached file, received today, you will see that the top eight teams are facing off as follows in the 1st and 2nd place brackets: #1 California is facing #8 Ontario in Game 1, and #2 Texas is facing #7 Luzon in Game 4. As of today, California is ahead of Ontario, and Texas is ahead of Luzon. This means that we will probably face California again. But this could change. You know how tricky Luzon is. So, I say again, “Boys, they’re coming at us with all they got. Let’s show ‘em what we Texans are made of.”
So, where is New York? They are in the bottom 4 teams of the total 12 teams in the Fraternity League and are in Game 5 leading Quebec.
Under this friendly competition, Texas stepped into the batter’s box with the other jurisdictions during July for the seating round. Jurisdictions were already divided into six leagues, each with 12 teams. Texas was placed in the Fraternity League along with New York, California, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Luzon, Mindanao, Ontario, and Quebec. The seating for the tournament determined the eight highest scoring teams from each bracket (including Texas) which are now playing for the top two prizes ($1,000 or $750). The remaining four teams from each bracket (including New York) are now playing for the third ($500) and fourth ($250) prizes. Teams that are knocked out of the tournament through double elimination will play for “VIP” Club points for their jurisdiction. So make sure your council is ready to recruit during this exciting competition and help Texas hit a grand slam.
