But, from where I come from, rain is a good thing.

f you are in to listening to country music you may be familiar with a new country artist by the name of Luke Bryan. In his new album “Doin’ My Thing”, one of the very popular tracks is titled “Rain Is a Good Thing”. Within the track Luke includes the following lyrics.
Rains makes corn,
Corn makes whiskey,
Whiskey makes my baby feel a little frisky.
This catchy phrase is what some may call the “hook”. Once you hear it, you’re hooked to listening to it over and over again.
So, what does this have to do with anything?
It has everything to do with growing the vision of Father Michael J. McGivney. Father McGivney’s hook was the benefit of belonging to the Knights of Columbus.
In the words of Pope John Paul II in his encyclical “Ecclesia in Europa”, he said, “We need to rediscover the authentic meaning of ‘Christian volunteerism.’” What better organization in the world today than the Knights of Columbus to lead the effort to restore an authentic understanding of Christian volunteerism. And there is also another reason why membership is so relevant and important. It keeps us Catholic. And if it keeps us Catholic, then we are building up the body of the Church. And isn’t that part of Father McGivney’s vision? There’s your hook.
Fraternally in Christ,

RECRUITMENT INCENTIVE FOR NOVEMBER – THANKS TO OUR FIRST KNIGHT, FATHER McGIVNEY
A new recruiting incentive has been introduced by the Supreme Council for the months of October, November, and December. It’s called “10 for 10” and it is simple. When a council recruits a least 10 new members during these three months, the council will receive 10,000 VIP Recruitment Points. But a council has to recruit at least 10 new members during the three months to receive the redeemable certificates of points. As an added incentive for November, our State Deputy is offering “5 for 5”. It’s called “Thanks to Our First Knight, Father McGivney.” When a council recruits a least 5 or more new members during November, the State Deputy will award the council with 500 VIP Recruitment Points for each new member. By the way, please note that the individual recruiter also receives a certificate for 500 VIP Recruitment Points for each new member he recruits. All certificates are redeemable for gifts from the Supreme Council’s gift catalog.
