One Nation Under God

As most of you probably know way back in 1954 the Knights of Columbus led the way to include these words in our Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. Recently the Knights in California successfully defended keeping “ONE NATION UNDER GOD” in the pledge.

GREAT NEWS!!!!! But TEXAS Knights have a wonderful opportunity to proudly display these words without having to go through a court battle. Maybe in Texas we take this opportunity for granted!!!! Why would I say this: Well currently only about 1 tenth of 1% of Texas Knights have availed themselves of this opportunity. Of the more than 93,000 Brother Knights in Texas just over 1000 have obtained a Knights of Columbus License plate from the State of Texas. These License plates are very distinctive with our KofC logo in color and the words, “ONE NATION UNDER GOD” proudly displayed.
I have racked my brain to figure out why every Texas Knight does not own one:
Could it be that the cost to own one is too prohibitive? Well they do cost $30.00!!!! But wait, wait there’s more, the state of Texas actually gives us back $22.00 that we use to provide care for our infirmed priests. So the true cost is only $8.00 WOW!!!! What a great deal!!!!
Could it be too hard to get one? No, not at all just go to the TXDOT web site and order it, or go to your local Court house.
Could it be that you have to wait till the next renewal date? No, you do not have to wait until your current plate expires. The State of Texas will prorate the new plate.
Could it be that we are ashamed to let our neighbors know that we are a member of the greatest Catholic family organization in the world! I certainly do not think that any Texas Knight is ashamed of telling the world who they are and what they stand for!
Could it be that we are just procrastinators? Probably this is the real reason that we have not acted. But ask yourself: What would have happened way back in 1954 if our predecessors had procrastinated? What if our California Brother Knights had procrastinated and not responded to the current challenge?
Be proud to be a Catholic!
Be proud to be a Texas Knight of Columbus!
Be proud to support our Infirmed Priests!
Be proud to proclaim that we live in a country whose motto is:
“ONE NATION UNDER GOD”
Don’t procrastinate any longer, order your Texas Knights of Columbus License Plate, NOW!!!!!! P.S. Get your wife one too, she will love you for it. Does your priest have one? Why not get him one.
