Take Advantage of the State Website!
Terry Fruge', Communications Director
In addition to email, the Texas State Council Website, http://www.tkofc.org is a great tool to communicate a host of information, dates, events, news and announcements. Through the guidance of webmaster, Mark Johnson, we have access to Featured news, State Council news, State Deputy messages and links of interest to Brother Knights.
The home page features articles from your State Officers and Directors as well as an Advanced Photo Section where photos are uploaded of Texas State Council Events, Organizational Meeting, Midyear Meeting and the TSC State Convention- Award Presentations. All photos are available for download and printing using Flickr. This allows you to print professional grade photos of yourself or members of your council that may have been presented awards or been captured enjoying events across the state.
The bottom of the home page has features such as Downloads of Council forms, Supreme forms, State Publications, Council and Assembly newsletters and Presentations such as Diocesan Conference, Organizational and Midyear Meeting Presentations.
You can also find the 2010 STAR GUIDE, (formerly the Program Manual) which covers everything you need to know to achieve Star Council.
This is handy information along with copies of all forms, instructions, information and checklist encompassing Membership, Charity, Programs, Council Growth and Communications.
Anyone can access most features of this sight, but to reach the directories or reports, you must register and login. It is a simple process where you go to the top right corner of the home page and select Register. Fill in certain required fields such as username and password, along with name and email address. In addition, we request you fill in your council and assembly numbers along with Parish or Diocese. This will help you receive information pertaining to these interests. The beauty of this site is if you forget your username or password, just RE-REGISTER! The webmaster will delete your previous account.
After registration, new members receive an email confirmation. You select the emailed link and login. (It is suggested that you select the Auto-login option, so you won’t have to worry about remembering your password). You may now navigate throughout the website without restrictions.
There is also a Contact Us link on the upper right hand corner of the home page that connects you to email and mailing address for the State Office, staff and webmaster.
The site has an Overview section along with Our History, and email addresses for State Officers.
The categories along the top menu are:
*News- contains all articles submitted by date.
*Articles- submitted by the State Officers and Major Directors.
*Announcements- Statewide/ Diocese/ District information to share.
*Events- a special time event (ie: degrees, etc)
There is an area for Submissions such as news stories, announcements, calendar events and prayer requests. Select the submission link and fill out the submission form. The staff will review and post within 24 hours or less. Or, you can just email to the webmaster using the email link and the staff will do it for you. If you are not sure what category to reference for your item, Mark will categorize it for you, if you wish.
This site has a powerful search engine to help you find something specific. Simply type in what you are looking for where it says “search” and click the search icon.
If you enter a council number it will locate all articles and information on that council.
As previously mentioned, only registered Kof C site members has access to the Directories. These contain current council information and website links, GK, FS, Diocesan and District Deputies, Insurance General Agents along with their email addresses. Much of this information comes from each council filing their Form#185.
If the information on this form is not correct, the info on this site will not be correct.
Don’t forget to update email addresses if they change.
The Council Directory also shows your membership, insurance and charity numbers along with number of members and certain forms you have submitted.
In addition to all of this information, there is also a section where the webmaster downloads Catholic News of interest from local, national and international publications.
There is a wealth of info at your fingertips. Please take advantage of it and enjoy!
