Fr. McGivney Icon

2013 was a very special year – it marked the 13th anniversary of service to our Order by Carl Anderson, our 13th Supreme Knight. Also in 2013, the Supreme Convention was hosted in San Antonio and Texas surpassed 100,000 member Knights.

To mark all of these significant milestones, Texas commissioned a special new icon of our beloved founder.  A Legacy of Hope depicts Fr. McGivney comforting a widow and orphan, with the emblem of the Order as a backdrop. Four key sites with very special significance to the Order are integrated into the framing of the main image – St Mary’s church and the Knights of Columbus headquarters in New Haven CT, and the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and the Pope John Paul II shrine in Washington DC.

Rendered by renowned religious artist G.E. Mullan, the original icon was donated to the Knights of Columbus Museum. The Supreme Knight, Supreme Chaplain and the 15 Bishops in Texas received one print of a limited Founder’s series. Other series prints are available to Councils, individual knights and others by making a donation to Texas’ Charity Fund.

Two icon sizes are available, as well as devotional prayer cards.  Select this LINK to Donate.

This vivid print will be an excellent addition to a Council chamber or as a gift for your Bishop, Chaplain or other clergy, and for a Knight or Family of the Year.
