Neither Rain, Snow nor Sleet would keep this council down from entering their “Keep Christ in Christmas” float in the Christmas Parade in Weatherford Texas.  On Dec 3rd the weather was rainy and cool but we dressed up our float and golf cart.  Our goal was to spread the word to “Keep Christ in Christmas” by handing out candy canes with the following legend attached:

Many years ago a candy maker wanted to make a sweet that would symbolize the meaning of Christmas.  He started with a stick of white hard candy that represented God’s body; pure and innocent.  He added red stripes to remind us of the blood that Christ shed on the cross for us.  He then curved the end of the cane to form the letter “J” for Jesus so we wouldn’t forget.  So the next time you see a candy cane, take a minute to remember the real meaning of Christmas.

You could see that this brought smiles to both the parade watchers and our brother Knights as we passed out the candy canes. Our Thanks go out to the Chairman Brother James Nowak for making arrangements to enter the parade, to Brother Joseph Wright for his trailer and pickup truck, to Grand Knight Andre Blanchard for preparing the candy canes and the finding of the legend, and Brother James Dixon for use of his golf cart which carried the resupply of candy canes and pictures taken by Leonard Wright. They made this event a success for our council in spreading the word of Christ Birth.
