State Represenative David Simpson is guest speaker at the Lindale KC’s Men’s breakfast.
The Lindale Knights of Columbus Council 12711 held a Men’s Breakfast at the Holy Family Catholic Church Parish Hall on 02/18/2012. The guest speaker was State Representative, District 7 David Simpson. The morning started out with heavy rains, however that did not stop the audience of about 30 Knights of Columbus members, Holy Family Administrator Father Steven Paradis, Lindale Mayor Jim Mallory, and Lindale Councilman Robert Nelson from attending this event.
Representative Simpson spoke of the many challenges and issues he faced in Austin during the past years sessions to include Pro-life issues. Representative Simpson is unreservedly Pro-life. His stance is that all human life is precious, being made in the image of God. He believes that the lives of the innocent and defenseless, whether unborn, infant, handicapped or elderly deserve protection. He is opposed to abortion, harvesting of embryonic stem cells, and euthanasia.
Other items of discussion consisted of the preservation of personal liberty by limiting civil government to administering justice and protecting life, liberty, and property. He believes that we must cut state spending and live within our means. He does not want to see “Austin become another Washington” with unsustainable debt and out of control spending.
Representative Simpson supports the right to carry and the use of firearms for self-defense, provisioning, and for sport. He is a life member of the NRA, Gun Owners of America and the Texas State Rifle Association
After speaking to the Knights, Representative Simpson opened the floor for questions followed by an invitation to ask one-on-one questions to him. Overall, this event helped to bring sunshine to an extremely wet, cold, and rainy day. We are grateful to have State Representative Simpson in Austin representing District 7.
