Pray for the repose of the soul of James Norman Krug, a man who placed his faith in God, died Aug. 3, 2012, in Nacogdoches. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on Aug. 4, 1958. A rosary will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Monsignor James E. Young officiating. James was a loving father and devoted husband. As a prosecuting attorney, he believed he was making the world a safer place. These were the principles by which James lived. Actively involved in his family’s lives, James was a wonderful cook who could be found in the kitchen preparing his special styled pizzas, char-grilled chicken or delicious stews. He enjoyed attending his children’s sporting events and looked forward to the family summer vacations on the Frio River, along with a good game of golf. An active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he assisted at bible studies and helped with Boy Scout Troop 100. James continued the Krug family tradition by becoming a member of the Knights of Columbus and ranked as a fourth degree knight. He and Kathy were members of Teams of Mary — a couple’s ministry group. His life’s work was serving others. At the time of his death, he was an assistant District Attorney in Nacogdoches. Previously, he practiced law in San Antonio, Longview, Dallas and McKinney. James served eight years active duty in the United States Army rising to rank of Sargeant and was a certified expert in the use of the M16 rifle. Two of his many honors include the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Achievement Medal 30LC. James is a graduate of Texas A&M University-Kingsville receiving master degrees in history and political science. While at A&M Kingsville, he met the love of his life, Kathryn Ann Cusack. They were married in 1995, the same year James graduated. He received a Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s University in 1999. He graduated from Brunswich High School, Brunswich, Maine in 1977, where he was an all-star football player. Being a Navy brat, he traveled all over the world especially enjoying his stay in Germany. James leaves behind his wife Kathryn and six children — Elizabeth Ann Fike Garza (Alarick) of El Paso, Jennifer Kathleen Fike of McKinney, Matthew James, Kathryn Ann, Alexander Thomas and Bethany Marie all of Nacogdoches and granddaughter Carrie Marie. His parents are Joan and Norman Krug of Camden, Tenn. James is preceded in death by his brother Stephen. He has four living brothers — Kenneth and wife Joanne of Houston, David and wife Nancy of Oklahoma City, Carl and wife Trudy of Hale Center, Texas, Anthony and wife Sheila of Newport News, Va. and one sister, Barbara Krug of Norfolk, Va. Mary and Joe Cusack of Kingsville, Texas, are his parents- in-law. Joe Cusack and wife Shirley of Houston and John Cusack (deceased) are his brothers-in-law. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to a trust account for the children at Commercial Bank of Texas in Nacogdoches..
