UPDATE on REV. SIR KNIGHT JACK WHITLEY, Associate State Chaplin, Fr. McGivney Guild, Chairman

Submitted by SK Peter Tan, District 1 Master, Archdiocese of Galveston/Houston
SK Peter Tan visited with Fr. Jack Whitley, our Associate State Chaplain and Associate District Friar, this morning at 10 AM at Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services. He was moved from the Methodist Hospital late last night. He was very weak but in high spirits. He gets tired easily because of difficulty in breathing. Fr. Jack knows the situation he is in and is ready to go to meet his Master. He still had his sense of humor as we joked about him being in a Jewish facility. Peter Tan asked if he was hedging his bets just in case the Christians are wrong and the Lord insists on us following the Mosaic laws to the letter, and so Fr. Jack is trying to be as kosher as he can in his last days. He told me it’s like a full circle coming back to the Old Testament, the beginning of our faith. He also said the staff had trouble trying to address him as Father.
Fr. Jack asked Peter Tan to tell all of you that he is at peace. He knows that all of you are praying for him, but he accepts whatever God has planned for him. He is also praying for you. He also asks that we refrain from visiting him as he gets very tired even just from the medical staff checking on him and doing tests. There are several Brother Knights who are personally close to him and have cared for him in the last couple of years. He will relay information through them and they will give us periodic updates.
Hail Mary, full of grace. Our Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
We ask all of you to continue praying for Fr. Jack. Prayer is powerful.
PRAY THE ROSARY
May FR. JACK WHITLEY receive the Holy Spirit and be guided during his recovery by Fr. Michael J. McGivney.
