What Makes A Star Council?
Is your council working toward making its membership and insurance quotas? Is your council conducting programs that is involving a large percentage of the membership? Is your council including the chaplain and the field agent when conducting charity fundraisers? If not, why not?

Charity Appeal From the State Deputy
“Charity has been at the heart of the Knights’ mission the past 132 years. Whether with funds or service, and whether quietly helping someone overcome a personal tragedy or assisting in the aftermath of a widely known humanitarian disaster, the outpouring of charity by our members produces meaningful results, especially by helping to bring peace of mind to those who find themselves in incredibly difficult situations,” said Supreme Knight Carl Anderson at the 2014 Supreme Convention.

The Star Council Goal
My Brother Knights, can you believe it? One-fourth of the year is already gone. Hopefully, you all are on the path to meeting all of your goals. Hopefully, one of those goals is achieving Star Council. Remember, it is our duty to offer every eligible Catholic gentleman an opportunity to join the Knights of Columbus. This Order has a lot to offer all of these men. They will become better husbands, better fathers, better Catholics and you can add to that an opportunity to take care of their family’s future.

It’s July 1st.  Welcome to a new fraternal year in the Knights of Columbus of the Texas State Council.  July 1st marks the beginning of a new fraternal year.  It is also the first day that we should start our recruitment efforts.  Don’t wait or put it off, start your recruiting, now.  July 1st also means that all counters are set back to zero and we have to start anew.  Good or bad, it is gives us the opportunity to start all over again.  It gives us hope.

Resolving Differences Charitably
Like any parent, when it comes to my children’s sports teams, I am not an objective observer.  I vividly recall attending one of my son’s high school basketball games with my daughter who was about nine years old at the time.
