The Foundation of the Competition:
From the earliest of time Colors were used as a form of identity and pride. Many people
have died defending what the Colors stand for no matter which is being displayed. As a
Fourth Degree Color Corps it is our duty to ensure we present Colors with the upmost
honor and respect. This Competition is designed to judge assembly teams on the process
of Posting of Colors while ensuring the utmost honor of each Color represented in the
post.
Formation of the Team:
Each assembly has the opportunity to create a Color Corps Team for the process of
posting Colors during local functions. Each team will have the opportunity of competing
at the Texas State Color Corps Posting of Colors Competition. Each team will have seven
(7) members, one (1)- Commander, two (2)- Guards, and four (4)- Flag Bearers. Each
team is only allowed one (1) Alternate per team. All teams must be an assembly-based
team, no diocese or district team can be utilized for the competition.
Competition Structure:
Teams will be judge at a Diocese level to determine which team will represent the diocese
and compete at the state convention. During the state convention Saturday breakouts,
teams will be judged to determine the winner of the competition. The winning team will
have the honor of Posting Colors at the Convention Banquet. Teams will be judged in
the following five areas:
1. Uniform
2. Commands
3. Movement/Execution
4. The Post of Colors
5. Retiring of the Team
The Judging Criteria:
Section 1. Uniform Inspection – The Uniform Inspection will be conducted prior
movement of the colors, all other judging will be done during the posting. 25 points
total based on scores of 1 – 5.
a. Proper use of Pins and Jewels:
• Use of current officers jewels
• Placement of the lapel pin shall be center of the lapel bottom hole.
• Proper alignment of the Miniature Jewels as listed in the Supreme Drill
Manual. Note Placement should be where the jewel at the most left ofthe pocket should be ¼ inch off the pocket cuff. Jewels should be
displayed in a straight line perpendicular to the center line.
b. Beret must be worn in accordance with the Supreme Drill Manual.
c. Uniform coat, slacks, tie, shoes, shirt and gloves shall be accordance with the
Supreme Drill Manual.
d. Proper placement of service baldric to ensure that the emblem of the order is
centered over the heart of the member.
e. Sword and Scabbard well maintained.
Section 2 Commands: For the purpose of the competition, commands shall be verbal.
10 points total based on 1-5 per criteria.
a. Quality and accuracy of each command.
b. Proper use of command in accordance with the Supreme Drill Manual.
Section 3 Movement/Execution - 25 points based on 1-5
a. Proper use for swords and movement bearers in accordance with the Supreme
Drill Manual.
b. Uniform spacing and movement of team.
c. Proper order of the flag in accordance with the Supreme Drill Manual.
d. Positioning and carrying of the flags -Uniform.
e. Team remain in straight line in proper step.
Section 4 Post of Colors - 25 points based on 1-5
a. Flag properly spaced at all times.
b. Movement is synchronized where flags turn and arrive at bases at same time.
c. All flags post into bases at same time.
d. Flags are properly displayed and Proper Salute in accordance with the
Supreme Drill Manual.
e. Movement of Flag Bearers returning to formation.
Section 5 Retiring of the Color Corps - 15 points based on 1-5
a. Proper commands for sword and movements in accordance with the Supreme
Drill Manual.
b. Uniform spacing and movement of team to ensures straight line in proper
step.
c. Proper hand placement of flag bearers in accordance with the Supreme Drill
Manual.
