Annual Charity Appeal

Dear Brother Knights and Ladies of the Texas State Council:

Charity has been at the heart of the Knights’ mission since our founding in 1882. Brother Knights in Texas have always been exceptional in their outpouring of Charity, assisting with funds and service in a multitude of social ministries, and in the aftermath of natural and humanitarian disasters. This abundance of charity by our members has produced meaningful results, especially by helping to bring peace of mind to our brothers and sisters who have found themselves in incredibly difficult situations.

The founding principle of our Order is Charity, fraternal charity to our brothers, their families, our parishes and our communities. Charity is the love of our neighbor, inspired by our Catholic faith. It is a sense of responsibility for each member of the human family as children of our God.

Each year, our Brother Knights in Texas work hard to raise money for our State Charities Program. Last year Texas led the Order in contributions to charity. We can do it again.

Each council has a goal that equals $10 times the number of active members in their Council. Seventy percent of the money collected for State Charities goes to the Bishop of each Diocese where the money was collected for the Bishop’s designated charitable program. The remaining thirty percent is used by the State Charities Board to fund Catholic School and individual educational grants, to provide support for the Special Olympics in Texas, to provide relief from natural disasters, and to respond to requests for assistance from throughout the State. For many years we have also provided funds for the retired and infirm priests across our State, provided substantial support for the Texas Catholic Archives, and supported campus ministries to ensure outreach to our younger faithful.

The Knights of Columbus in Texas are making a real difference in our great State and we need everyone working together to raise funds for our charitable causes. Please be generous in your individual contributions.

Donations to Texas State Charities can be made online at www.tkofc.org or by mail to the State Council Office. When making your contribution, please include your council number and it will be credited to your Council’s State Charities Goal.

Beth has chosen the “American Wheelchair Mission” as her First Lady Charity Project, and in addition to raising funds, she is promoting all councils in Texas to have their parish hold “Wheelchair Weekends” as a way to maximize efforts to provide assistance to those in need.

Please prayerfully consider making an individual contribution to Texas State Council Charities so that we may continue to serve our Church by doing God’s work. We must lead by example to show others our principles are not merely words but part of the lives we lead each day. It is up to us to spread the work of our Catholic faith as we try to improve our communities and our world.

On behalf of the Texas State Council, thank you for your continued generosity and support.

Terry & Beth Frugé

State Deputy
