Bishop Claude Dubuis Council 7445 out of Sacred Heart Parish in Richmond, led its first ever “40 Cans for Lent” program this year.

Parishioners were asked to donate items and bring them to mass each weekend during Lent. Items were collected each week and donated to a local food pantry called "Helping Hands" where many of our parishioners/Knights volunteer. A total of 6,694 pounds of items were collected and donated to help those in immediate need! The generosity of our parish was amazing, and the staff at Helping Hands were overwhelmed.

Due to the tremendous success of this program, our Council reached the maximum reimbursement of $500 for this project. A motion was made, and unanimously approved, to donate these funds to St. Joseph Seminary in Covington, LA. This seminary was badly damaged in the recent flooding in our area. St.Joseph's is also the residence of two of the five seminarians from Sacred Heart Parish.
